Caring for Childers since 1894
Our story began in 1894, when Thomas Gaydon established the Isis Pharmacy in the building that still carries his name. Dentistry has continued from Gaydon’s Building through successive generations ever since, known to locals for the last 30 years as Brett Phillips Dental Surgery, home of the Decayslayer. This is the oldest continuously operating dental practice in Australia and as Childers Family Dental we carry that legacy forward with modern technology and the same devotion to our town.
1894
Thomas Gaydon establishes the Isis Pharmacy on Churchill Street and dentistry follows soon after.
1911
The building grows to two storeys, with a dental surgery on the upper floor.
30+ years

2026
A new chapter begins as Childers Family Dental, keeping the legacy alive.

Frequently asked questions
Do you accept the Child Dental Benefits Schedule?
Yes. Eligible children can receive bulk billed care under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule. Bring your Medicare card and our front desk team will check your eligibility on the spot.
Do you accept government dental vouchers?
Yes, we welcome Queensland Government oral health vouchers. Give us a call and we’ll help you make sense of the paperwork before your visit.
I'm scared of the dentist. Do you offer sleep dentistry?
You’re not alone and you’ll never be judged here. We offer twilight and IV sedation as well as general anaesthesia for longer procedures, so even the most nervous patients can receive comfortable care.
Do you see dental emergencies?
Yes. Call us on 07 4126 1666 as early in the day as you can and we’ll do our best to see you the same day.
Why are my teeth sensitive?
Sensitivity is often caused by worn enamel, exposed roots, grinding or decay. A check-up lets us find the cause early and stop it getting worse.
Why do my gums bleed?
Bleeding gums are usually an early sign of gum disease and they respond well to a professional clean and better home care. It’s well worth acting early.
Can you make my teeth whiter?
In most cases, yes. We offer professional teeth whitening and can advise if veneers or other cosmetic options would suit you better.
Still have questions?
Our friendly team is happy to help with anything from appointments to payment options.
